Just a quick note to ask that you call or email our senators as soon as possible to tell them to vote NO on Russell Vought for Director of the Office of Management and Budget. The vote on his nomination could happen today. As you know, he's a co-author of Project 2025, is a far right-wing hawk on expansive executive power and believes in using the military during civil unrest, slashing spending programs without Congress, and stripping federal workers of their protections. Yeah, he's that guy.
If we were all shocked by the chaos this week from the freezes on spending (and then the court cases and then the supposed rescinding of the memo), we'll have to get used to it if he's voted in. Because all of that was Vought's idea.
As a reminder, these were funds that the Constitution does not allow the president to withhold. So before the freeze was set to take effect (and after a tremendous amount of chaos and fear was unleashed), a federal judge blocked it. But Vought is committed to expansive - and illegal - presidential power that ignores the spending required under laws passed by Congress. Watch his Senate hearings as he waxes poetic about the president’s right to do it, Constitution and Supreme Court guidance be damned.
Call or email your senators and tell them to vote NO on this anti-democracy zealot.
