Happy Tuesday, Activists ~Â
Â
If you went to the Indivisible/MoveOn/WFP meeting on Sunday you know what's coming next. We're holding a rally tomorrow at our Democratic senator's office!
Â
We need to push Senator John Fetterman to push back strongly against the oligarchic and anti-constitutional moves by the Trump/Musk administration. So join us tomorrow at 3:30 PM at 200 Chestnut Street. Sign up here. Â
MAKE YOUR STAND AND RALLY TOMORROW
Â
It's time we make a public statement that we will not stand for this oligarchy-in-the-making and the unconstitutional spending freeze by Trump and co-president Musk. Although Democrats are in the minority in the House and Senate, the tiny margins in both mean that there are things Democrats can do to slow down the process and make it much harder for Trump/Musk to get nominees and bills they want much harder. In other words, no votes, no deals, no cooperation until Trump’s spending freeze is rescinded.
Â
When:Â Tomorrow, February 5, 3:30 PM
Where:Â 200 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia
We'll have signs but bring your own too!Â
Â
You can leave a letter at Fetterman's office or we will deliver it for you.Â
We don't think we'll get into the office to meet with Senator Fetterman's staff in person. So we'll state our positions outside and also hand deliver letters to his staff in the lobby. Click this link for the letter that you should modify to make it your own. Make a copy, save your changes, and print it out and bring it with you. If you can't make it to the rally, email your letter to this address by 10:00 tomorrow morning and we'll print it out and take it for you.
Â
Here's what we want them to do and you can include these in your letter as you wish:
Shut Down the Senate. Use every procedural tool to grind Senate business to a halt. Specifically, they must:
Commit to oppose all nominees while this freeze remains in place, including calling for Russell Vought’s nomination to be rescinded.
Reject every request for Unanimous Consent to advance Senate business.
Vote NO on all Cloture votes, Motions to Proceed, or any other procedural vote.
Request Quorum Calls at every possible opportunity to slow things down.
Â
Refuse to Negotiate. Trump is using federal programs as hostages in a power grab. Democrats must refuse to engage in any funding or debt ceiling negotiations while this freeze remains in place. No compromises with dictatorship.
Sound the Alarm. Every senator must become a megaphone for what’s at stake. Go on TV, hold town halls, and flood social media with the stories of families who will lose food, homes, and healthcare because of Trump’s chaos.
Back Legal Challenges. Support every lawsuit challenging this freeze. File amicus briefs, amplify cases, and make it clear this isn’t just morally wrong—it’s illegal.
AGAIN - ASK MAYOR PARKER TO SUPPORT OUR IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY
By honoring our city's sanctuary policy.
Â
Call our Mayor today and demand that our city stand against ICE’s harmful operations and defend our Sanctuary City policy.  Tell her why defending our sanctuary policy is crucial for our community, and why we stand in support of immigrant families. Ask her to show courage and stand firm, and show us what love in policy truly looks like.
Â
Here's the Mayor’s office number: (215) 686-2181
KEEP MAKING CALLS TO BLOCK RUSS VOUGHTÂ
Â
Please continue to call to ask our senators to vote NO on Russ Vought.  As you know, he's a co-author of Project 2025, is a far right-wing hawk on expansive executive power and believes in using the military during civil unrest, slashing spending programs without Congress, and stripping federal workers of their protections. Yeah, he's that guy.Â
Â
Remember that the Constitution does not permit a president to withhold spending that Congress voted into law. Â
Â
Call or email your senators and tell them to vote NO on this anti-democracy zealot.
