Happy Tuesday, Activists!
We hope you're having a great week so far and staying warm. With a few weeks left in this Congress, we can still get some good things done before next year. We just need to hold our Democratic elected officials' feet to the fire to make sure they stay strong and do it! We have your Calls To Action below.
We also want to share with you the inspiration and enthusiasm we are feeling from our Neighborhood Leaders in our 35 Doors Program during our post-election conversations with them. Our Neighborhood Leaders this year spoke to so many voters and made friends along the way. They have inspired us with their stories of engagement. And they told us they are ready to do more now too! We've said it before and we'll say it again -- this is the best work you can do - and it's fun.
We are planning a lot of events with our 35 Doors group this year, so you can join in and find out what it's all about. You'll meet some fantastic people and if you become part of the program you'll have fun talking to your neighbors! All the information is below.
And last but not least, thank you so much for all your very generous donations on Giving Tuesday. You all are the absolute best!
JOIN OUR 35 DOORS PROGRAM!
We know the next couple of years will be tough. But we'll make it better when we're together, taking the best steps we can to limit the damage from the Trump agenda and to increase the chances for Democratic victories in 2025 and 2026. The good news is that we have the very best way for you to talk to voters -- talking and listening to your neighbors about the neighborhood and answering their questions about elections in friendly conversations.
To sign up, you can first have a chat with us, or come to one of the meetings we'll be announcing soon.
To set you up for success we give you everything you need -- a training, and then the script/talking points, handouts, door hangers, a clipboard, buttons and stickers, and a handy portfolio to keep everything in. And you can select the addresses you want to go to. It's easy, close to your home, and you can do it on your own time. And we have a way you can do this in your apartment building if that's where you live.
Here's how it works:
1. Let us know you're interested in learning more by replying to this newsletter or sending us an email at vicki@indivisiblephiladelphia.com.
2. We'll set up a call to give you more detail, answer your questions, and confirm you'd like to be part of this project.
3. Then we'll set up a zoom and go over the map of the voters in your neighborhood and you'll pick the blocks and addresses you want to canvass.
4. We'll bring you all the materials you'll need before you start knocking doors.
You can find more information on our website at this link.
TWO CALLS TO ACTION
1. Call our senators and tell them they need to confirm President Biden's picks for federal judges ASAP. With less than about 10 days left of this Congressional session, they need to get this finished now! If the Senate doesn’t confirm them all before Trump takes power, he’ll be able to stack the judiciary with MAGA sycophants.
Please call our senators and tell them to act quickly -- work late into the nights and on weekends if needed -- to approve the Biden judicial nominees.
2. Tell our House Members to push for the publication of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The ERA cleared the 38-state threshold for ratification in 2020, but thanks to years of legal debates and Republican obstruction, it has not been published and certified as the 28th Amendment. Biden has the authority and the responsibility to instruct the National Archivist to publish the ERA as the 28th Amendment and should do so before leaving office. While not a silver bullet, the ERA could provide a critical tool for combating discrimination against women, girls, and LGBTQ+ people nationwide.
Call your representative today and urge them to enshrine gender equality into our Constitution by pushing for the publication of the Equal Rights Amendment.
