Happy Tuesday, Dear Activists, We see the atrocities unfolding in Ukraine right now and we know you want to help. There are many lists of worthwhile organizations out there, and here are some choices listed by NPR. If you can, now is a good time to show your support.
CALL TO ACTION - TWO ITEMS 1. Climate Action: We need the Defense Production Act! There has been an upswing of reporting on President Biden possibly using the Defense Protection Act to massively ramp up our ability to manufacture clean energy technology, transition to renewables, and create millions of jobs. We need to keep the heat on to get this done. 2. Student Debt – Cancel $50,000! Nearly 45 million people hold more than $1.8 trillion in student debt. Why? For decades higher education costs have risen at an exponential rise while wages in the jobs awaiting graduates have stagnated. And the affected generation spent their formative years fighting against two economic recessions. We need their debt cancelled to put them on a path to financial security. Pressure is building from student activists too. Contact our Senators and Representatives & ask them to urge the President to: 1. Declare a national climate emergency and mobilize our nation’s resources on a massive scale to transition to clean renewable energy and create millions of good paying green jobs. 2. Cancel at least $50k of student debt now! Rep. Evans – D.C. office 202-225-4001; Phila. office 215-276-0340; email link Rep.
