35 Doors: Become a
Neighborhood Leader
Meet your neighbors. Be a resource. Make a difference.
Our 35 Doors Leaders commit to connect with 35 neighbors just a few times a year. You can't get more grassroots than that!
How It Works
In this project, you’ll be a Neighborhood Leader interacting with voters at 35 addresses in your neighborhood. All you need to do is go to doors a few times per year using the information we’ll provide about upcoming elections. You’ll receive training, handouts, and key talking points so you'll be ready to be the local election expert!

Why It Works

-
The 35 Doors Project is a form of "deep canvassing," which has been shown to be the most effective way to motivate voters.
-
Deep canvassing is just a fancy word for conversation; we listen to voters and respond to what’s on their minds. Volunteers get Conversation Guides to give them talking points that address issues we know are important to voters.

Still not convinced? Check out this great write-up in the Philadelphia Citizen and this interview with our leader Victoria Miller on WURD Radio.
Our Community
We have 35 Neighborhood Leaders so far, active in neighborhoods in Center City, Roxborough, West Philly, Chestnut Hill, Grad Hospital, and Spring Garden. How about yours?

We asked one of our volunteers Jesse to tell us what he loves about being a Neighborhood Leader in "35 Questions about 35 Doors" (our take on Vogue's fun 73 Questions series). Check out an excerpt here, or the whole video on our YouTube channel. According to Jesse, 35 Doors is "35 chances to have meaningful interactions with your neighbors, which is a rare jewel in this day and age."
